Recruitment of Chair for AJTC

The Appointments Commission have launched a campaign to select and appoint the next Chair of the AJTC
The Chairman of the AJTC, Lord Newton of Braintree OBE DL, will be retiring in 2009 and the Appointments Commission have been instructed to assist Ministers in appointing his successor.
The successful candidate will be someone who can bring his/her weight of experience, professional expertise and credibility, together with extensive governmental networks, to this important national role. Key selection criteria include
- A sound understanding of and commitment to administrative justice and forms of citizen redress;
- A proven track record which demonstrates the ability to inspire and command the confidence of all AJTC stakeholders;
- High level leadership and chairmanship skills, with demonstrable understanding of the role of Chair, including strategic vision;
- Influencing and communication skills – effective at all levels and in all media;
- A clear understanding of and commitment to equality issues and challenging discriminatory practices.
The Chair receives a salary, currently £55,223 per annum, for a time commitment of approx 2.5 days per week.
